Welcome!
My name is Jeanette McLeod, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Oak Ridge Elementary. This is my 20th year in education, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead such a dedicated and caring school community. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching elementary students across nearly every grade level, with most of my experience in the primary grades. Those years in the classroom shaped my belief that every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and challenged to reach their fullest potential.
I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University and my Educational Leadership degree from Eastern Michigan University. My passion for education continues to grow as I work alongside students, families, and staff to create meaningful learning experiences and a positive school culture.
What I love about my school and role:
One of the greatest joys of being a principal is building relationships with students, families, and staff. I believe that strong partnerships create the foundation for student success. I am committed to fostering a school environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn each day. Watching students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while celebrating their accomplishments is the most rewarding part of my work.
Personal interests and fun facts:
When I'm not at school, I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places with my family. Every summer, we take a road trip to visit National Parks across the country. Together, we've traveled to 48 states and explored 42 National Parks, creating memories while experiencing the beauty and diversity of our country. Whether I'm hiking a new trail, enjoying a good book, or spending time with my family, I appreciate opportunities to learn, explore, and connect with others.
